A portion of all proceeds from your voting is used by the Killeen Daily Herald toward our involvement with the local animal rescue shelters. Each year we sponsor an Animal Adopt-a-thon. Not only to we support the shelters in this event, but we also provide the advertising and promotions necessary to make this annual event a greater success each year. And because more "paws and claws" require more helping hands, we also provide members of our own staff to work at this event that brings incredible awareness to the community.

Another way we support our shelters is through the Killeen Daily Herald’s weekly Pet Page section. We have one of our photographers go to each shelter and take pictures of animals that need our support for their quick adoption. These pictures are printed in the Pet Page along with the information for each of the local animal shelters.
