Man gets eight years in robbery

Killeen Daily HeraldBELTON – A Killeen man was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for robbing at gunpoint a man he found sleeping in his vehicle.
Judge Fancy Jezek of the 426th District Court sentenced Dwan Christopher Baity, 19, on aggravated robbery charges.
In the early morning hours of July 26, a man was sleeping in his truck in Killeen when three men woke him by banging on it. They pulled him out while pointing a gun at him, took his wallet and cell phone and drove off in his truck.
Witnesses told police that a person called Wheezy, Baity's street name, was involved.
Baity was arrested the same day on outstanding warrants for walking on the wrong side of the street.
At the Killeen City Jail, Baity's property was inventoried, and he was found to have the victim's cell phone. The victim also identified him in a photo lineup.
Jezek also sentenced:
Cliff Benjamin Shaw, 24, of Killeen, to 14 months state jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver.
Michael Doyle Hammons, 19, of Temple, to 12 months state jail for possession of a controlled substance, less than 1 gram.
Judge Joe Carroll of the 27th District Court sentenced Tuesday:
Cherella Lyles, 23, of Temple, to six months state jail for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, cocaine, 4 grams or more.
Leroy Samuel Anderson, 18, of Killeen, to 10 months probation for burglary of a habitation.
