Police: Man shoots ex-wife's boyfriend to death in Evant Posted On: Wednesday, Dec. 30 2009 05:40 AM

A shooting incident Monday night left one Coryell County resident dead and another man in custody.

According to the Coryell County Sheriff's Office, shortly after 9 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a residence on Putnam Street in Evant after Donna Mabes reported her boyfriend having been shot by her ex-husband.

Once at the scene, law enforcement from Gatesville, and Coryell and Hamilton counties responded to the call and found Kenneth Elwood Mabes, 45, of Tuscola sitting in his Nissan pickup truck across the street from the residence.

David Minney, 36, was shot multiple times in the upper body and was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Jimmy Wood. Wood ordered an autopsy by the Southwest Forensic Institute in Dallas.

Mabes is being held at the Coryell County Jail awaiting arraignment on a murder charge. The sheriff's office is investigating the incident.

According to a press release, Donna Mabes and Minney, moved back to Evant in October from the Tuscola area, which is about 120 miles northwest of Evant.
