Man gets probation, $500 fine for assault

Killeen Daily HeraldBELTON – A Copperas Cove man was sentenced to six years of probation and a $500 fine after pleading guilty Monday to beating a man and leaving him with a broken nose and internal injuries.
Judge Joe Carroll of the 27th Judicial District Court also sentenced Christopher Michael Lynch, 25, to 180 days in Bell County Jail, minus 39 days credited to him, and 250 hours of community service. He was found guilty of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.
On July 19, police responded to a call that an assault was in progress at an apartment complex in the 1600 block of Grandon Drive. In the parking lot they found a man lying in the fetal position, crying and bleeding profusely, according to the arrest affidavit.
Kaydee Lynch told police that she and a friend met the man at a club in Killeen and brought him home. When they got there, her husband, Christopher Lynch, and a friend attacked and severely beat the victim, including stomping on him.
Police found blood on Lynch and the other man, and Lynch's knuckles were cut.
EMS transported the victim to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where doctors found him to have a broken nose and cranium and abdominal swelling.
He was in critical condition and had injuries to his face that could have caused permanent disfigurement, according to the arrest affidavit.
Carroll also sentenced Mishellee Leonda Collingwood, 27, of Temple, to three years of probation and 200 hours of community service for possession of less than 1 gram of crack cocaine on Aug. 21.
