Killeen Daily HeraldA 23-year-old Fort Hood soldier allegedly stabbed and killed another soldier at a late-night party Sunday.
Fort Hood military police turned over Donnie Kenneth Stevens Jr., a 1st Cavalry Division soldier, to Killeen police Monday.
Stevens ran at and stabbed David Lester Middlebrooks, also a 1st Cavalry Division soldier, at a party around 5 a.m. Sunday, according to an arrest affidavit. The stabbing happened at a home at 111 Prather Drive, near Trimmier Road and Jasper Drive.
Middlebrooks was pronounced dead at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at 6:50 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Garland Potvin, according to a Killeen police news release.
Stevens fled the party, but witnesses identified him as the person who stabbed Middlebrooks. A man that left the party with Stevens told police that Stevens admitted to stabbing someone, according to the arrest affidavit.
Potvin set bond at $1 million on a charge of murder Monday. Stevens was transported to Bell County Jail.
Potvin ordered an autopsy at Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
