A Harker Heights High School senior who is a top rodeo rider and has a talent for drawing is Student of the Quarter for the Career and Technology Education campus in Killeen ISD.
Michael Houston is in his first class on the CTE campus and has distinguished himself in computer-aided drafting by picking up the concepts quickly and willingly helping his classmates.
Houston said he wants to be an architect and an engineer and figured the CTE class made sense for him.
"Most of it comes pretty easy to me," Houston said of the drafting concepts. He said he has been drawing a long time and has a family member who is an architect and has encouraged him to pursue the field. He has also worked on construction sites. Houston has multiple interests.
He shows hogs in FFA competition and won the state championship in saddle bronc riding in the Texas High School Rodeo Association Championships.
"He's done good work," said his architectural drafting instructor Carl Lintner. "When he understands a concept he shares with others and he gets it pretty fast."
