From staff reports
The weather may have been a bit dreary, but the music was upbeat as bands gathered at Carl Levin Park in Harker Heights Saturday to support the Second Chance
Animal Shelter.
The
shelter, recovering from a Nov. 1 fire that killed 99 cats and 15 dogs, held a fundraiser in the park to help with rebuilding costs.
The concert, put on by Otitis Media Productions, featured rock, country and blues musicians.
Animals were available for adoption during the afternoon concert, and more animals can be adopted this afternoon at Petco in Harker Heights and PetSmart in Killeen.
The no-kill
shelter, at 5501 Clear Creek Road in Killeen, is still seeking donations and volunteers to help with the recovery effort.
There will be a membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Killeen Community Center on Veterans Memorial Boulevard to discuss the rebuilding effort and future plans for the
shelter.
