12-5A All-District Volleyball: Belton's Weaver shares MVP honor

Killeen Daily HeraldA week after getting swept out of the playoffs by Sachse, Belton junior Grace Weaver was honored for her ability to shred opposing district foes with her powerful spikes.
So much so she was selected as District 12-5A co-most valuable player along with Shelby Dickson from district-power A&M Consolidated when postseason awards were released Monday.
While continuing their dominance over the rest of the district, notching their 41st consecutive district victory this season, A&M Consolidated also compiled the most all-district players, with seven representatives including Erika Arthur, Karla Gilbert and Kelsey Kinley on the first team.
Second place Copperas Cove also finished with the second-most all-district selections, led by most valuable hitter Amy Rosenbaum and first-teamers Amber Moore and Phyllicia Cross.
Despite missing out on the playoffs after losing to Bryan in a play-in game, Temple had three representatives among the district's top selections including Loryn Goodwin (Newcomer of the Year), Lauren Mann (Defensive Player of the Year) and coach Susie Hughlett (Coach of the Year).
Along with Weaver, Belton was represented by first-team selections Chelsea Lomprey and Stephanie Striker.
Earning second-team honors were Desiree Wylie of Ellison, Bianca Patterson of Harker Heights, and Kelly Kearns of Copperas Cove.
