From staff reports
Bell County Health District officials have announced the H1N1 vaccine is available to uninsured people from 6 months to 18 years old, and pregnant women seen in health district prenatal clinics.
The vaccine is for uninsured clients in the priority groups only at this time, a health district press release stated.
This small supply of vaccine was provided to the Bell County Health District by the state under very strict guidelines regarding who can receive the vaccine.
Pregnant women, who are not seen at the health district for prenatal care, must have a note from their doctor on his or her prescription pad (or a fax can be sent to the clinic). The note/fax needs to be signed by the doctor and verify that the woman is in her second or third trimester, and that it is OK for her to receive the vaccine.
The health district anticipates receiving larger quantities of vaccine sometime in December that will be designated for the general public, but for now the small number of doses received serve as the safety net of vaccines for those in priority groups who are uninsured.
Those who have insurance need to continue to check with their primary providers.
Where to go
Shots are available to uninsured people in high-risk groups, age 6 months to 18 years and pregnant women only.
