Killeen Daily HeraldThe Lifeway Fellowship Church offered a prayer service early Friday to lift the spirits of those suffering from the mass shooting at Fort Hood Thursday afternoon.
"It is just a prayer service," said Ken Adams, Lifeway Fellowship Church associate pastor. "Just like every other church in this community, we are connected to Fort Hood."
About 30 people attended to pray within the walls of the Lifeway Church.
Those 30 people splintered into three smaller groups so each person could have a chance to voice their prayers.
"Thank you, Lord, for protecting the ones, that you protected," one woman prayed. "We pray for those who have lost loved ones and who are injured."
There is a power behind praying, Adams said. It fills you with answers when there are no answers especially in a situation like this, he said.
"We find it very important that prayer is the only way to give that sustenance and God is the only answer," Adams said.
John LaGrane, a Lifeway congregation member, wouldn't have missed the opportunity to pray for those suffering; even though, he personally didn't know any of the victims.
"Prayer to the Lord is vital to healing," LaGrane said. "When we are praying as a community; we will be heard."
The prayer service was a chance for those suffering to start healing.
"Our belief is that God gives you the will and power to get through this," Adams said.
