Today, the U.S. House of Representatives will adopt House Resolution 895, a resolution honoring Fort Hood soldiers and their families in the wake of Thursday's tragic shooting.

At the request of Congressman John Carter, R-Roundrock, who is the lead sponsor of the resolution and has traveled to Fort Hood today, Congressman Chet Edwards will lead the House proceedings. Edwards represented Fort Hood through three combat deployments from 1991 to 2004.

Secretary of the Army John McHugh and Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey, Jr. will hold a press conference on Fort Hood at 1:30 p.m. today. The press event will be proceeded by an Army-wide moment of silence in honor of the Fort Hood victims, family members and loved ones.

While one prayer vigil at a local church is wrapping this morning, anther church has announced a communty prayer vigil tonight.

Central Christian Church at 1301 Trimmier in Killeen will host the vigil at 6 p.m. today. Any questions, feel free to call the church at 254-526-2179.

Also, there will be a candlelight vigil held to honor Fort Hood's fallen tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. at Comanche, 73rd St., 25th St. and North Fort Hood chapels. The Chaplain's Corps at Fort Hood will host a candlelight prayer vigil at Fort Hood Stadium this evening beginning at 6 p.m.

After consulting with Fort Hood leadership, Killeen ISD schools will be open during normal operating hours today and buses will run as normal.

Killeen ISD will be observing a moment of silence today at 1:35 pm along with Fort Hood. "We ask that everyone participate in this moment of silence
in remembering the events of yesterday," KISD officials state in a press release.

Meanwhile, for those still trying to find out about their friends, family and loved ones, Fort Hood has set up a hotline for relatives of Fort Hood personnel, who may call (254) 288-7570 or (866) 836-2751 for information about loved ones.

Texas A&M University - Central Texas will be holding a Carter Blood Drive Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the TAMUCT Main Campus.
