Killeen Daily HeraldSeveral organizations are making sure blood needs are met for the victims of Thursday's mass shooting at Fort Hood.
The American Red Cross, Heart of Texas Area Chapter, will be hosting blood drives at its Killeen and Waco locations to help generate more blood for those victims, said Angie McFarland, Heart of Texas Area American Red Cross public relations director.
The Killeen Red Cross is at 208 W. Avenue A and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
The Waco Red Cross is at 4224 Cobbs Drive.
An American Red Cross volunteer blood donation force is also on standby and may be dispatched to the Killeen/Fort Hood area today, McFarland said.
Scott & White Hospital requested blood donations of all types. Due to the overwhelming community response, before 7 p.m. the hospital's Web site was asking interested donors to wait until the blood center reopened at 8 a.m. today.
Scott & White Blood Center is in Room 115 of the Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
