On a recent field trip, Browning Community Garden Club members gathered at Oma's Nursery in Killeen.
Julie Baker and Mollie Bersch were welcomed as new members.
Dorothy Stevens opened a brief meeting with "Brightening Our World."
Mrs. Bersch read "Green the Gulf Coast Project," an article taken from the National Gardener.
Mrs. Randa Daude, the nursery owner, presented a program on organic gardening.
She advised using a one-inch layer of compost now to loosen up soil and help microorganisms to form, another inch during the winter months.
The group was reminded of the Zone Meeting to be held today in Temple.
A bake sale is planned for Nov. 14.
At the Nov. 17 meeting, which will be held at the fellowship hall of Clear Creek Baptist Church, Doris Magnor will provide a design demonstration using weathered wood and foliage.
Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about gardening, landscaping or floral design.
For more information, call Mrs. Magnor at (254) 547-5645 or Margaret Hoke at (254) 547-2466.
