Rayshun Spearman scored five touchdowns — on runs of 27, 25, 9 and 15 yards, and a 70-yard kickoff return — as the Palo Alto 8A Patriots walloped the Rancier Ka-Roos 47-0 on Tuesday at Leo Buckley Stadium.

The Patriots scored on two of their first three plays.

Patrick Mark passed to Nahome Anderson for a two-point conversion and the Patriots led 26-0 at halftime.

Spearman opened the second half with his kickoff return TD. Mark passed to Myles Scott for another two-point conversion.

Backup quarterback Ikenya Margrum threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Anderson. The catch was Anderson's first TD of the season. The final score came from a 15-yard touchdown run from Christian Vascot. Spearman tacked on the extra point.

Backup running backs Teddy Sands and Mark Bolden were other offensive standouts.

On defense, Spearman had an interception. Malik Clemons, Joseph Tiumalu and Myles Scott each had sacks. Jerry McClemore and Toma Rivera were other standouts.

The eighth-grade Patriots play Live Oak Ridge next week.

Union Grove 8A 28, Liberty Hill 8A 6 — At Union Grove, Tre Edwards scored twice and the undefeated Grizzlies dominated the first half and went on to win their home finale.

The Grizzlies (6-0, 3-0 division) scored all 28 points in the first half. Marcus Anderson had a 15-yard run. Quarterback Josh Delaney connected with receiver Cameron Delaney for a 40-yard touchdown.

Edwards took a Tyrone BonHomme pitch for an 80-yard kickoff return TD. Edwards also had a 25-yard TD run. Offensive linemen Gavin Owens and De'Sean McQueen were other standouts.

Liberty Hill scored on a 90-yard kickoff return by Markus Carson for the first points allowed by Union Grove, but the Grizzlies defense maintained its perfection.

Joseph Alaniz, Tony Thomas, and Edwards each forced turnovers. Devlin Smith and Anderson recorded sacks. Tony Barnes, Wilson Owens, Garrett Gaskamp, Brysen Carter, Malik Jones, Matt Sluss, Matthew Langoria and Quahary Bobbitt were other standouts.

Other offensive standouts for Liberty Hill were Jarrel Taylor (100 yards rushing), Ronnie Edwards (100 receiving) and Devyn Williams. Frederick Geordin and Hatward Clay had interceptions. Andrew Easley was another defensive standout.

Eastern Hills 8A 32, Live Oak Ridge 8A 0 — Dyeon Foster, Kijana Kolbusz and Phillip Boyd-Ward gained big yards and scored touchdowns behind the great line play of Colin Christie, Bobbie Brown, Mark Wilson, Dalton Emery, Kyle Foster, Logan Fox and Cody Kipp.

Josh Hicks scored a two-point conversion.

Defensive standouts for Eastern Hills were Josh Hicks, Kijana Kolbusz, Lamont Alexander and Jordan Oliver. Feron Fleming, and Trent Jones were special teams standouts.

The Panthers host Union Grove next week.

S.C. Lee 8A 16, Temple Lamar 8A 16, tie — Chris Cottrell scored on a 23-yard run and Cepadro Thomas added the crucial two-point conversion as the Lee Cougars rallied from a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to salvage a tie.

The Cougar defense recovered a fumble on the 48-yard line with 5 minutes remaining to set up the comeback.

Lamar (3-3) scored all its points in the third quarter for a 16-0 lead.

The Cougars (2-2-2) finally broke through on Miles Stanton's TD run up the middle. Stanton added the two-point conversion to cut the Lamar lead in half.

The Lee eighth-graders take on Copperas Cove Junior High on Tuesday at Bulldawg Stadium.

Live Oak Ridge 8B 22, Eastern Hills 8B 0 — QB Mike Emerich, TB Robert Clater and WR Woody Woodell were standouts for the Panthers, who suffered their first loss.

S.C. Lee 8B 20, Temple Lamar 8B 0 — The Cougars led all the way after recovering a fumble on the opening kickoff and scoring.

In the third quarter, Lee's George Lowe picked off a pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown. Chaz Gurley scored on a 53-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. Darius Coleman capped the scoring with a two-point conversion run on a reverse.

Union Grove 7A 28, Liberty Hill 7A 0 — Brian Thomas scored three touchdowns on more than 200 yards rushing to lead the Grizzlies to a victory.

Jordan Harris caught a touchdown pass from quarterback Troy Smith and also had a two-point conversion. Thai Goodwin added another two-point conversion.

The Grizzlies (6-0, 3-0 AFC Division) have not been scored on since division play began. Defensive standouts were Michael Woods (tackle for loss, interception), Michael Williams (sack, TFL), Nick Leafa (3 TFL), Chris Lewis (1½ sacks) and Denyawn Pettus (½ sack).

The Grizzlies seventh-graders host Eastern Hills on Tuesday.

Palo Alto 7A 22, Rancier 7A 12 — Broderick Reed tossed a pair of touchdown passes to tight end Calvin Johnson to help the Patriots get the win.

Johnson caught scoring passes of 17 and 12 yards.

Tailback Shannon Bogues added a 10-yard TD run. Reed and fullback Stacy Carter had two-point conversion runs.

Defensively, Ke'von Young, Mikell Clark and Justin Homs each had sacks.

Next week, the Patriots will host Live Oak Ridge in their home finale.

Union Grove 7B 28, Liberty Hill 7B 0 — Four different Grizzlies scored as Union Grove shut out the Lions.

Carlson Goode connected with D'Undre Mitchell on a 4-yard TD pass for the Grizzlies (6-0, 3-0 AFC Division). Armond Brady ran 35 yards for the Grizzlies' second touchdown. Raquine Johnson caught two 2-point conversions. Adontis Atkins scored his first touchdown of the season on a 25-yard run. Brandon Martin caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Corey Shedrock to complete the Grizzlies scoring. Yaser Cacho also provided some key blocks during the game.

Outstanding defensive players were Aric Austin (½ sack), Devran Perkins (1½ sacks, fumble caused), Andrew Lankford (½ sack, 2 TFL, fumble recovery), Andrew Rose (½sack) and Kevin Thomas (2 TFL).

Temple Lamar 7A 28, S.C. Lee 7A 6 — At Lee, Phil Aumua was a blocking standout for the defeated Cougars (3-3).

Trent Canion played well on the defensive side.

The Lee seventh-graders play Copperas Cove Junior High on Monday at Bulldawg Stadium.

S.C. Lee 7B 12, Temple Lamar 7B 8 — At Lee, Josh Huffman scored both touchdowns for the winning Cougars (5-0), including Lee's first offensive play.

Andrew Chapman made two keys stops on the defensive side to help seal the win.

Middle School Volleyball

Liberty Hill 8A def. Union Grove 8A 10-25, 25-14, 15-12 — At Liberty Hill, Yasmeen Moore and Lyndsee Lemacks each served eight points in the undefeated Lady Lions victory.

Other scorers for Liberty Hill (6-0, 3-0 division) were Anna Long and Felicia Carmago (seven points each), Bianca Malden (two) and Amani Dashiell (one).

Eliza Brownfield was also an offensive standout.

The eighth-grade Lady Lions travel to Rancier next week.

Bianca Yerry served 13 points, including nine straight near the end of the opening game, to lead the Grizzlies, who lost for the first time. Yerry also had three aces.

Angela Delaney added nine points and an ace. Other scorers for Union Grove (5-1, 2-1 division) were Zoey Clyde (six points), Tess Rudasill (four), Madison Stanley (three), Kyla Menefee (two) and Alexis Ridley (one).

Madison Stebbins and Chante Mitchell were other standouts.

The Union Grove eighth-graders continue division play Thursday at home against Eastern Hills.

Temple Lamar 8A def. S.C. Lee 8A — At Lee, Tyson Reingans was a defensive standout for the defeated Lady Cougars. Randi Crumbin led the offensive attack.

Union Grove 8B def. Liberty Hill 8B 21-25, 25-19, 15-11 — At Liberty Hill, Victoria Moseley served 12 points, including an ace, to lead the Grizzlies to a victory.

Other contributors for Union Grove (5-1, 2-1 division) were Tatyana Mundo Bowers (nine points, one ace) and Mone't Bennett (nine points), Amanda Bailey, Xanthe Gentry and JilliAnn Jacko (one point each)

Amanda Bailey and Kathleen Janda spearheaded the offense with their impressive sets.

Carson Lesperance was another standout. Victoria Moseley had the only kill of the match.

Scoring for Liberty Hill (4-2, 1-2 division) were Brittney Saravia (seven points), Kim Hinojos (six), Danielle Rivera (five), Patty Kolb (four), Briana Walker (three) and Alisha Jefferson (one).

Shelby Torres and Marisa Schmidt were other standouts.

Temple Lamar 8B def. S.C. Lee 8B — At Lee, Kourtnie Torres was an offensive standout for the defeated Lady Cougars.

Jalessa Miller was a defensive standout.

Liberty Hill 7A def. Union Grove 7A 25-10, 14-25, 15-10 — Miranda Tapia served 20 points, including 15 consecutive during one stretch, and the Lady Lions defeated the Grizzlies.

Danielle Purdue served 12 in a row for Liberty Hill (3-2, 2-1 division). Other scorers were Kaylai Lewis (five points), Celexeia Partlow and Alexis Weisheit (four each) and Kiara Artis (three).

The top server for the Grizzlies was Katelyn Jenkins with 11 points. Other scorers for Union Grove were Alana Dickerson (seven), Gillian Pons (three), Natasha St. Hilaire and Corley Raven (two each) and Gloria Kim and Cathy Reniker (one each).

The Union Grove seventh-graders travel to Eastern Hills on Thursday. Liberty Hill's seventh-graders host Rancier.

S.C. Lee 7A def. Temple Lamar 7A 25-14, 25-16 — At Lee, Alexis Jones had two kills in the Lady Cougars' victory.

Tatianna Wagner was another offensive standout. Aubryon Woodkins was a defensive standout.

Liberty Hill 7B def. Union Grove 7B 25-19, 25-13 — At Union Grove, Alyssa Crisostomo served 21 points, including 14 in a row during one stretch, and the Lady Lions defeated the Grizzlies.

Other scorers for Liberty Hill (4-1, 2-1 division) were Claire Brownfield and Triana Mayshack (seven points), Shamari Davis (six), Amanda Vasquez (four), Melinda Sarabia (three) and LaQueesha Currie and Brittany Littlejohn (one each).

Anna Hebert served five points to lead the Grizzlies. Other scorers were Daysha Cepeda and Rachel Brown (three each) and Marriana Warren (one). Leslie Chaffin, Emily Muller and Leah Owens were defensive standouts.

Temple Lamar 7B def. S.C. Lee 7B — At Lee, Aliyah Mcgahee was the defensive player of the game for the defeated Lady Cougars. Hailey Hensley was an offensive standout.

Cove JH 7B def. S.C. Lee 7B 25-16, 25-19 — Ciara Cheadle was the defensive player of the game for the winning Lady Pups.

Montereyca Ramey and setter Shana Young were offensive standouts.

S.C. Lee 8B def. Cove JH 8B in 2 — Allision Revanue and Malina Janneson were standouts for the defeated Lady Pups.

S.C. Lee 7A def. Copperas Cove 7A in 3 — Kelsie Ash, McKenna Fridley and Ciera Colbert were standouts for the defeated Lady Pups.

Copperas Cove Junior High 8A def. S.C. Lee 8A in 3 — Shelbi Letzer was the offensive star of the game for the winning Lady Pups.

Elliana Doubleday was a defensive standout.

The Lady Pups close the season Monday at home against Temple Bonham.

KPR Volleyball

OCT. 15

Wildcats def. Panthers 2-1 —Alexus Denen and Aujunnae Smith led the Wildcats to victory with great serving and defense.

Crush def. Knights 2-1 — Elisabeth Iosefo and Alexia Wilkinson provided solid efforts on both sides of the ball helping the Crush improve their record.

The Knights' standout was Sydney Brock who had great serving.

Liberty def. Shock 3-0 — Ally Chiarenza and Syann Isoefo were standouts for the Liberty.

Carmen Williams was a standout for the Shock.

Aggies def. Elite 2-1 — Belinda Reese, Jasmine Arthur and Mallory Little carried the Aggies to victory.

Marissa Franklin was a standout for the Elite.

Mystics def. Bears 2-1 — Madison Sapp, who has been solid all year, was a standout for the Mystics.

Jacen Moore and Jessica Purnell were standouts for the Mystics.

Killeen Destroyers

in action today

The Killeen Destroyers youth football and cheer teams will be in action today against the Killeen Colts at Rancier Middle School.

Games start at 10 a.m. with the flag age group, 11:30 midget age group, 1 p.m. rookie age group, and 2:30 junior age group.

An admission of one canned food will be charged for donation to the Killeen Food Bank for the up coming holidays. It will also be Player Appreciation Day to honor the children in each age group who will be leaving or moving up to the next age group.

The team requests that people do not bring outside food and do not park in the grass. Smoking is prohibited on school grounds.
