LAMPASAS/KEMPNER – Residents who receive their water from either the city of Lampasas or Kempner Water Supply Corporation are no longer being advised to boil water before use.
Both entities had issued boil water notices after water in their systems fell below state minimum standards for chlorine this week.
The city of Lampasas released a statement Friday saying water samples that were tested for harmful bacteria came back as safe to drink, and the problem in the water system that resulted in low disinfectant levels in the water has been resolved.
Earlier in the day, Kempner Water Supply had posted on its Web site a statement retracting its boil water notice, saying water samples from its system came back safe as well.
Kempner Water Supply Corporation issued the first boil water notice Monday after receiving water with low chlorine levels from the Central Texas Water Supply Corporation over the weekend. According to the supply corporation's Web site, water it is now receiving from Central Texas Water Supply meets state standards.
The City of Lampasas – which receives water from Kempner Water Supply – issued a boil water notice Thursday after finding low chlorine levels at three of five testing sites within the city early that morning.
