Thomas powers 7A Grizzlies to win

Brian Thomas scored four touchdowns and the Union Grove Middle School 7A Grizzlies never let up after scoring on the opening series en route to a 44-6 win over Audie Murphy on Tuesday.
Thai Goodwin added two touchdowns. Jordan Harris had three 2-point conversions and Philip Bryant added another. Lineman McLane Matthews was another offensive standout.
Micheal Williams had three sacks, one tackle for loss and caused and recovered a fumble. Chris Lewis also had three sacks and caused a fumble. Other defensive standouts were:
Jordan Weller (sack), Sam Sanders (two TFL), Michael Woods (two TFL), Steven Viguers (sack), Ryan Turck (blocked punt), Ethan Atkisson (two TFL) and Danyawn Pettus (two fumble recoveries).
The Union Grove seventh-graders travel to Palo Alto on Tuesday.
Liberty Hill 7A 20, Manor 7A 0 – Deon Burch scored three touchdowns – on runs of 53, 20 and 10 yards – to lead the Lions to a win.
Keysean Little scored a 2-point conversion. Neal Psalm, Isaiah Tovar, Taylor Jacobs, Torry Bell, Donte Gibson, Elijah Stump, Wade Bellomy, D'jarvis Adger, Desmond Jefferson and Landon Persick were defensive standouts.
Nolan 7A 18, Palo Alto 7A 12 – At Nolan, Keondre Parker-Shepard scored the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 60-yard run to lift the Mustangs to a victory.
Parker-Shepard also opened the scoring with a 40-yard run in the first quarter. The Mustangs (2-1) took a 12-0 lead in the third quarter on Derrick Thomas' 35-yard run, but the Patriots rallied to tie the game.
Marquis Domonter and Christian Manalang each had two sacks and Vince Lobendahn caused and recovered a fumble as the Nolan defense blanked Palo Alto in the first half.
The Patriots had a chance to tie and take the lead, but their drive was stopped at the 8 as Garrett Hall forced a fumble that was recovered by Reggie Blash to seal the victory.
David McCants also snatched a fumble out of midair and returned it 25 yards.
Halfback Taron Tillman-Ratliff and fullback Stacy Carter scored touchdowns for Palo Alto. Linebacker Mikell Clark forced a fumble that was recovered by DL Broderick Reed.
The seventh-grade Mustangs host Patterson next week. The Patriots host Union Grove.
Smith 7A 8, Rancier 7A 0 – At Rancier, Jeremiah Mendiola, Abraham Rojas, Taelan West, Anthony Johnson, Ian Hernandez and Gabrial Calderon were defensive standouts for the defeated Ka-Roos. Demarius Cress and Tinnaj Nelson were offensive standouts.
Rancier's seventh-graders host Live Oak Ridge on Tuesday.
Union Grove 7B 24, Audie Murphy 7B 0 – Corey Shedrock ran for a touchdown and pass for another in the Grizzlies victory.
Shedrock scored on a 15-yard run and tossed a 45-yard TD pass to D'Undre Mitchell. Juwuan Wright scored on a 35-yard run and Tristan Anderson broke three tackles on his way to a 35-yard TD run that capped the scoring. Other offensive standouts were Austin Thomas, John Fizer, Michael Barrios and Yasser Cacho.
The Union Grove defense recorded its second shutout, led by Justin Preddy (tackle for loss), Yves Bottex (two TFL), Mitchell Anderson (TFL), Aric Austin (fumble recovery), Devran Perkins (sack), Dennis Teeter (TFL) and Jacob Baumgartner (sack).
Rancier 7B 24, Smith 7B 0 – At Rancier, Keleen Yates, Anthony Oliver and Reginald Wallace each scored touchdowns in the Ka-Roos win.
Other offensive standouts for Rancier (2-1) were quarterback Adrian Spencer and linemen Jabaris Hill, Steven Williams, Bennett McGuire, Luis Zamora and Michael Mitchell and kicker Grant McCain.
Defensively, the Ka-Roos were led by Diondre Middleton and Kenrick Rodney, who intercepted a pass to end the game and preserve the shutout.
Palo Alto 7B 32, Nolan 7B 6 – At Nolan, halfback Joey Icmat scored four touchdowns to lead the Patriots to a victory.
Fullback Josh Davis added a 2-point conversion. Tight end Kole Miller capped the scoring with a touchdown on a reverse. Lineman Bobby Moore was another offensive standout. Defensive end Deandre Frazier caused a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Justin Homs.
Quarterback Chris McKiver scored Nolan's points with a 67-yard run.Chris Mathis made five textbook tackles in his first game on defense. The Mustangs fell to 0-3.
Liberty Hill 7B 20, Manor 7B 20, tie – Christian Del Pozo scored on runs of 12 and 2 yards and had a 2-point conversion for Liberty Hill. Joshua Nichol scored on a 2-yard run.
Joshua Nichol scored on a 2-yard touchdown.
Benjamin Knight and Kory Nelson were defensive standouts.
Liberty Hill 8A 22, Manor 8A 0 – Devyn Williams ran and passed for a touchdown and the Lions blanked the Rams.
Williams tossed a 35-yard TD pass to Diontay West, scored on a 5-yard run and passed to John Naame for a 2-point conversion. Jarrel Taylor added a 10-yard TD run. Other offensive standouts were Joseph Ballou, Travis Saravia, Reggie Jackson, Thomas Prang, Nicholas Feyer and Coby Kingston.
Antonio Davis had an interception. Other defensive standouts were Marcus Carson, Frederick Geordin, Brandon Smith, Andrew Easley, Reon Hunt, Clarence Jones and L.E. Schneider.
Union Grove 8A 33, Audie Murphy 8A 0 – At Union Grove, Josh Delaney scored on runs of 40 and 10 yards and the Grizzlies posted their third straight shutout.
Marcus Anderson scored on a 30-yard run, Tre Edwards added a 25-yard TD and David Gaskamp kicked a 20-yard field goal. Center Justin Riesen was another offensive standout.
Defensive ends Devlin Smith and Quahary Bobbitt led the shutout effort. Other standouts were Matthew Longoria, Teron Davis and Bryson Carter.
Smith 8A 14, Rancier 8A 0 – Isaac Boston and Jaylin Mayfield were offensive standouts for the defeated Roos. Jaylin Henry, Samuel Battle and Maliek Caple were defensive standouts.
The eighth-grade Roos travel to Live Oak Ridge on Tuesday.
Palo Alto 8A 13, Nolan 8A 12 – Christian Vascot scored on a 40-yard run and Miguel Fierro had a 10-yard TD run and the Patriots rallied for their third straight win.
Defensively, Jorge Oquendo had two interceptions for Palo Alto. Other defensive standouts were Nicholas Rios, Xavier Crumpler, Myles Scott and Rayshun Spearman.
The Patriots eighth-graders begin division play next week against Union Grove at Leo Buckley Stadium.
Vondarius Washington scored on the first offensive play of the game for Nolan on a 56-yard run. The only other Nolan score came in the fourth quarter when quarterback Nathan Deidrich broke tackle after tackle on an amazing 63-yard run with a minute left in the game. D'angelo Bryant was another offensive standout.
Defensive standouts were Jamarus Banks, Felix Garcia, Luis Sanchez and Desmond Rice.
The Nolan eighth-graders open division play next week at Patterson.
Union Grove 8B 30, Audie Murphy 8B 0 – At Union Grove, Daniel Gibbons ran and passed for a touchdown and the Grizzlies won their third straight to start the season.
Gibbons scored on a 30-yard run and tossed a 30-yard TD pass to Austin Roden. Caleb Tomgenovich also scored on a 30-yard run. Other offensive standouts were running back Anthony Hendrix and Xavier Jackson.
Cornerback Kaleb Dean recorded nine tackles and forced two fumbles to help Union Grove post its second consecutive shutout. Other defensive standouts were Kyle Key, Warren Jones, DeAundre Lewis, Tyler Partain and Joseph Gordon.
Palo Alto 8B 20, Nolan 8B 0 – The Patriots did all their damage in the first half and won their second straight game. Ikenya Margrum scored on a 55-yard run, Dwayne Williams scored on a 17-yard run and Trie'saun Smith connected with Anfernee Hawkins on a 28-yard touchdown pass with 17 seconds left in the half. Toma Rivera scored on a 2-point conversion pass from Margrum.
Kendall Barber, William McLain and Joshua Haynes each recovered fumbles as Palo Alto's defense registered its second straight shutout.
Defensive standouts for Nolan were Christian Montoya, Michael Lawerence, Dayshilon Ranch and Josh Short. Michael Lawerence, Chris Duirden and Darren Gardner were offensive standouts.
Smith 8B 30, Rancier 8B 8 – Jabrel Johnson hooked up with Deandre Adams for a 7-yard touchdown and the 2-point conversion for the defeated KaRoos. Other offensive standouts were Elijah McKinnie, Jeordi Broady and Geremy Ramos. Brandon Ellis, Brandon Moore and Freddie Barton were defensive standouts.
Middle School Volleyball
Union Grove 8A def. Audie Murphy 8A 25-11, 25-15 – At Audie Murphy, Bianca Yerry served eight points to help lead the Grizzlies to a 3-0 start.
Other contributors for Union Grove were Alexis Ridley (seven points and two aces), Chante Mitchell (seven points, one ace),
Madison Stanley (six points), Zoey Clyde (four points, one ace), Angela Delaney (two points) and Kyla Menefee (three kills).
The Union Grove eighth-graders travel to Palo Alto on Thursday.
Union Grove 8A def. Nolan 8A 28-30, 25-15, 15-13 – Tess Rudasill served 14 points, with one ace, to lead the Grizzlies to a victory.
Kyla Menefee added nine points and an ace for Union Grove (2-0). The Grizzlies were behind 10-6 when Chante Mitchell stepped up to serve five consecutive points to tie the game at 11. Mitchell finished with six points in the match. Angela Delaney added five, Joy Moton and Bianca Yerry each had three, including Yerry's ace.
Angela Delaney had two impressive kills during the match. Other kills were made by Kyla, Yerry, Mitchell and Moton.
Top servers for Nolan (1-2) were Ashlie Scagliusi, Caila Butler and Brianna Fugate. Olyvia Lee and Adriona Hill were defensive standouts.
Liberty Hill 8A def. Manor 8A 25-19, 25-19 – Amani Dashiell served 13 points and the Lady Lions improved to 3-0.
Other scorers for Liberty Hill were Yasmeen Moore and Felicia Carmago (seven points each) and Danielle Braswell (two).

Nolan 8A def. Palo Alto 8A 25-20, 25-16 – Top servers for the winning Lady Mustangs were Brianna Fugate, Adriona Hill, Ashlie Scagliusi and Maddie Ferrell.
Caila Butler was a setting standout. Adriona Hill and Olyvia Lee were standout hitters for Nolan (2-2). Halleight Clark, Diamond Mills, Carly Reavis, Carolyn Thompson and Bailey Wade were hustle standouts.
Copperas Cove Junior High 8A def. Lake Belton 25-21, 25-21 – At Cove JH, Chandler Diaz and Kalianna O'Sullivan led the Lady Bullpups to a win.
Union Grove 8B def. Nolan 8B 14-25, 25-8, 20-18 – Nicole Zimmerman served 14 points, including four aces, to help the Grizzlies win.
Union Grove (2-0) trailed 14-13 in the deciding game when Tierra Jones saved a wild pass to help the Grizzlies tie the game at 14. Both teams battled back and forth until Kathleen Janda served the final two points for the win.
Other contributors for Union Grove were Tatyana Mundo Bowers (five points, one ace), Janda (three points), Mone't Bennett, JilliAnn Jacko and Amanda Bailey (two each), Amanda Bailey (one ace) and Mylesia Harrell (one point).

Other scorers for Union Grove were Breanna Gelsinger, Kathleen Janda and Mone't Bennet (three points each), Xanthe Gentry and Mylesia Harrell (two each) and Amanda Bailey and Victoria Moseley (one each).
Zimmerman and Bennet each had an ace.
Palo Alto 8B def. Nolan 8B 16-25, 27-25, 15-12 – Top servers for the defeated Lady Mustangs (0-4) were
De Ja Martin, Alexus Godwin and Alexis Dudeck. Stephanie Rodgere, Destiny De La Cruz and Erendira Carreon were defensive standouts.
Cove JH 8B def. Lake Belton 25-21, 25-13 – At Cove JH, Kiana Chipman served six straight points to propel the Lady Bullpups to a victory. Laura Mcphail and Arielle Keeler were other standouts.
Nolan 7A def. Union Grove 7A 26-24, 24-26, 18-16 – Top servers for the winning Lady Mustangs were Alexanderea Brooks, Alysia Espanda, Kayla Kearney, Keturah Ollares, Monica Turk and Kiera Moody.
Reina-Denise Soria and Veronica Dessus were defensive standouts.
The Lady Mustangs came from behind in the first game, scoring the final eight points after they were down 24-18. Alexanderea Brooks served eight straight points.
Palo Alto 7A def. Nolan 7A 25-21, 25-10 – Top servers for the winning Lady Patriots were Yarixza Rowser and Miranda Coronado.
Outstanding servers for Nolan were Monica Turk and Kiera Moody (two points each) and Keturah Ollares, Alysia Espanda, Alex Brooks and Mary Jane Eseroma (one each). Reina-Denise Soria and Kayla Kearney were defensive standouts.

Dickerson tallied three aces during her run. Other scorers for Union Grove were Katelyn Jenkins (nine points), Marisol Wuilleumier (two) and Gillian Pons and Corely Raven (one each). Jazmine Buggs was a defensive standout.
The Grizzlies begin division play next Thursday at home against Palo Alto.
Manor 7A def. Liberty Hill 7A 25-18, 24-26, 15-6 – Alexis Weisheit was top server for the defeated Lady Lions with 13 points.

Dylan Williams provided the offensive punch with TD runs of 30 and 50 yards.

Killeen Evening Lions Raiders 26, Rancier Management Bucs 20 – LaMarcus Freeman scored on runs of 5, 22 and 40 yards for the Raiders. Isaiah Stevenson added a 29-yard TD.
