Killeen Daily HeraldOn Wednesday, the U.S. Marshals Service apprehended a man in Killeen wanted on murder charges in connection with a shooting in Brooks County, Georgia.
Derrick Styles, 24, is being held in Bell County pending extradition.
Styles was hiding out in Killeen because he has family here, said Deputy U.S. Marshal Anton Savage.
Early in the morning of June 26, people broke into a home in Brooks County and attacked the residents. The intruders stole money, beat one man and shot and killed another, 62-year-old Alberto Lemus.
Two men and one woman were arrested in Georgia in connection with the incident, including Styles' 26-year-old brother, Michael Styles, who turned himself in to the Brooks County Jail.
The younger Styles, who Brooks County authorities called the "trigger-man," was the last suspect arrested.
The state of Georgia may have to request Styles' return.
"We're waiting for him to go before the district judge out there (in Bell County) to see if they have a waive of extradition, and we might fight it and we'll have to get a governor's warrant to get him back here," said Lt. Keith Anderson at the Brooks County Sheriff's Department in Quitman, Ga.
The Killeen Police Department assisted in Styles' arrest. He was apprehended without incident, Savage said.
