Grab your finest hat and load up the family for a day of romping fun at Polo at The Vineyard in Florence from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Vineyard will host the Austin Polo Club's inaugural event in fine tradition. A ladies hat parade, champagne divot stomp, wonderful food and music ranging from country western to Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" are planned to make this event memorable for years to come.
The fundraising event supports the Ride on Center for Kids (R.O.C.K.) serving youth and adults with special needs. The facility provides therapeutic horseback riding and Hippotherapy for individuals with cognitive and physical challenges according to the Web site. The organization's mission is partnering with horses to improve independence and life skills. R.O.C.K. students will display their riding during the pre-show event.
R.O.C.K. also features the Horses for Heroes Riding Trail where soldiers from the Central Texas area who have served abroad can enjoy an environment of renewal and recovery.
Roland Waites of the Georgetown Police Department will serve as master of ceremonies, and the R.O.C.K. color guard will honor soldiers and heroes.
"We just want everyone to have a good time at The Vineyard," said Kambrah Garland, owner of The Vineyard at Florence. "We have a beautiful polo field overlooking the vineyards that will host the spectacular thoroughbred horses and players."
