Killeen Daily HeraldBELTON – Bell County Commissioners will be holding a tire collection event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the auction lot at 4970 U.S. Highway 190 in Heidenheimer.
The tire collection event was discussed at Monday's commissioners court meeting.
The tires will go to a recycler. No tires with a diameter larger than 24 inches, tires with rims, solid or foam-filled tires or tires from business or commercial activities will be accepted.
The charge is $2 per car tire or $5 per truck tire. "We have to pay to fill the trucks," County Commissioner John Fisher said. The county subsidizes the cost of recycling the tires; going through a recycler might normally cost someone $3 or $4 per car tire, Fisher said. For more information on the event call the Bell County Engineer's office at (254) 933-5275.
The Bell County Commissioner's Court Monday also approved a renewal of a data processing services agreement between Bell County and Indigent Healthcare Solutions, Ltd. for the next two years beginning Oct. 1.
"Our success with Indigent Healthcare Solutions has been very good," said County Judge Jon H. Burrows. According to the company's Web site,
www.indigenthealthcaresolutions.com, IHS Ltd. provides computer software for indigent health care offices, hospital districts and public hospitals.
The court also approved the installation of a stop sign on the intersection of Williams Road and West Village Road in Salado.
In other action, Bell County Fire Marshal Steven Casey announced the burn ban has been lifted, for now.
