Lampasas County temporarily lifts burn ban Posted On: Friday, Sep. 11 2009 10:08 AM Bookmark and Share
LAMPASAS – Lampasas County has temporarily lifted its burn ban thanks to Friday morning’s rains, allowing residents to do any controlled burns that may have been put off over the weekend.

County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse announced Friday that the ban on outdoor burning would be lifted from 10 a.m. Friday until Sunday at 6 p.m.

“It’s because of the rain,” said Dianne Seery, Boultinghouse’s administrative assistant. “I think we got three inches, so if [residents] need to burn trash and things like that they can.”

Coryell, Bell and Lampasas counties have been under burn bans through much of the summer due to dry conditions and increased risk of fire.

Seery reminded that the weekend’s lifting of the ban is only temporary, and the area is still under a drought.

“Anytime it rains a whole lot, we’re able to lift it for a little bit. But unless the rain keeps up, we’re still going to be dry,” she said.
