Kathy's Kitties, which had to reschedule a planned Valentine's Day opening event for the public, has rescheduled the opening for Memorial Day, owner Kathy Kwieran said.

Owners can have their female cats spayed for $45 and male cats neutered for $35. People who play host to feral cats can get them spayed or neutered for $30, she said.

Kwieran said, "We have to do pet cats because they're where all the stray cats come from, but a lot of people in the country encourage feral cats and feed them because they control pests. They'll take them back home with them."

Feral cats that Kwieran and her associates bring in are returned to the wild around monitored feeding centers, she said.

The clinic is scheduled to do 20 sterilizations for the Fort Hood stray animal facility and Killeen animal control Tuesday.

The veterinarian performing the operations is Dr. Jane Mahlow of Bartlett.

The clinic will be open for pets the second and fourth Mondays of every month.

"We don't make appointments but need to know how many cats are coming because we can only do so many in a day," Kwieran said.

The clinic, at 308 N. Gray St., can be reached at 519-2287.
