Eagles claim second in 25-2A

SALADO – Clint Scarbrough hit a 2-RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Eagles over Academy 5-4 and claim sole possession of second place behind No. 2 Rogers.
Tyler Wright hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the first to give Salado (16-6, 6-2) the early 1-0 lead, but Academy, which beat Salado 6-4 in the first meeting, answered with a pair of runs in the third to go up 2-1.
Cole Calder hit a RBI-single in the bottom of the fourth that scored Hunter Ward and gave Salado a 3-2 advantage but the Bees (4-3) hit a go-ahead two-run homerun in the top of the seventh.
Justin Beruman allowed two runs on three hits while walking two to pick up the win in relief.
Salado plays in Rogers next Friday.
