Economic woes continue to plague King's Daughters Hospital in Temple.

Officials released a statement Monday that they will cut 20 positions with the hospital, 8 percent of their workforce.

Some of the hospital's employees will have revised work schedules as well, according to the release.

"To ensure the hospital can continue to operate while facing these extreme market pressures, we are forced to aggressively reduce expenses," the statement read. "We know this is a difficult time for many of our staff. The employees who will be affected have been informed and will receive severance or other compensation to help them through their employment transition."

Robin Bodkin, the hospital's director of marketing, said the eliminated positions included non-clinical workers.

The hospital will host an on-site job fair Thursday for only King's Daughters Hospital employees.

Representatives from the Texas Workforce Commission, Scott & White Healthcare, Metroplex Health System in Killeen, Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center at Fort Hood, Central Texas Veterans Healthcare System and Hillcrest Health System in Waco will be available.

Bodkin said King's Daughters Hospital is still in a 90-day nondisclosure agreement with Scott & White Healthcare in regard to a potential partnership between the two entities.

Scott & White officials announced last week that if a partnership is forged with King's Daughters, they would designate the facility as a children's hospital.

The partnership with Scott & White and King's Daughters Hospital's staff cuts will not impact the King's Daughters Clinics in Killeen, Belton and Temple, which are separately owned and operated.
