A fire in Belton displaced one man and destroyed the inside of his home early Monday morning.
At about 5:15 a.m., the Belton Fire Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of Shady Lane in Belton for a structure fire, said Lt. Brian Campbell.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy smoke and flames were showing from the back of the house, Campbell said.
The owner of the home was asleep inside the house when it caught on fire but escaped without injury, Campbell said.
"He said he woke up from the smoke and crawled out," Campbell said.
It took three fire crews about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames.
"The inside of the house was completely ruined, but the structure damage was minor," Campbell said.
The home owner is being helped by the Salvation Army.
Belton fire marshals are investigating the blaze.
