Local Roundup: Heights girls finish second in cross country

Aliese Hyde finished second overall to help the Harker Heights girls cross country team finish as runner-up to Belton for the second straight week, at the Belton Meet at Long Branch Park.
Hyde finished in 11 minutes, 50 seconds. Monique McMichael finished in 12:33 and Marissa Rozdilsky set a personal record with a time of 12:38.
Georgetown was third, marking the first time the Lady Knights have beaten the Lady Eagles.
In the boys division, Heights' Michael Odeh set a school record with his time of 16:56. The Knights finished seventh overall in the meet won by Belton.
Other Knights with strong performances were Adarius Stanford (18:07) and Anthony Cruz (18:27).
Hutto sweeps Cove in volleball
COPPERAS COVE – The Copperas Cove volleyball team was swept by Hutto on Friday, losing 25-15, 27-25 and 25-13.
Christina Miller led the Lady Dawgs (16-11) with seven blocks and five kills. Sapphire Reid also had five kills and led Cove with nine digs.
Alex Alvarado had 14 assists and an ace.
Tour de Florence bike ride set for Saturday
FLORENCE – The Vineyard at Florence is hosting the Tour de Florence bike ride Saturday, which benefits Florence's Park and Recreation Department to help complete cycling trails in the city's parks.
Riders may choose from 15-, 35-, 45- or 65-mile routes that run through the scenic countryside of Florence and Williamson County. The adult ride begins at 8 a.m.
A Kids' Fun Ride is also planned, starting at 9:30, within The
Vineyard property. Kids' activities will include face painting and a moon walk following the ride.
The Vineyard at Florence is located at 8711 W. FM 487.
