HitSquad wins TASA Girls 12-Under 'C' title Posted On: Monday, Jun. 16 2008 12:44 AM The HitSquad lived up to its name Sunday, and walked off with a state championship for it.

The team from Corpus Christi rolled to the title in the Texas Amateur Softball Association Girls 12-Under 'C' Division Fast Pitch State Championship tournament, beating the Flames 7-1 to wrap up the crown at the Killeen Athletic Center.

A group of all-stars from the Portland and Corpus Christi area, HitSquad defeated FireStixx 4-2 in the winner's bracket final early Sunday afternoon.

The Flames defeated FireStixx 6-4 in the consolation bracket final of the double-elimination event and earned the matchup with HitSquad in the finals.

The tournament, co-sponsored by the City of Killeen, opened Friday and featured 36 teams from across the state, including local hosts Killeen Explosion and Killeen Hot Stuff.
