LAMPASAS – A one-car rollover accident left a pedestrian dead and another in serious condition Sunday morning in Lampasas County.
At 9:58 a.m., a 1995 Chevy Tahoe drifted off the right side of the road while driving southbound on County Road 2200. The 17-year-old driver overcorrected, crossed the roadway and smashed into a tree, rolling onto its top and hitting two pedestrians, Lampasas residents Claudia Murdoch, 48, and Kirsti Alley, 31, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said.
Alley was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while Murdoch was flown to Scott & White Hospital in Temple with back and internal injuries.
All three passengers of the Tahoe were treated for minor injuries.
The driver, Lampasas resident Devan Post, 17, and Kempner resident Cory Mobley, 18, were treated for cuts and bruises, and Michelle Benton, 18, of Lampasas, was treated for minor injuries and broken bones.
