TEMPLE — The Children's Hospital at Scott & White is being renamed after a large donation from two of its longtime benefactors.
Elizabeth and Drayton McLane Jr. made the largest gift in the 115-year history of Scott & White to benefit its children's hospital, now named McLane Children's Hospital Scott & White.
"We made the decision to become an active part in the life of the Children's Hospital as a family," said the McLanes in a joint statement released Thursday. The McLanes have a long history of involvement with the Temple hospital; Drayton McLane Jr. has been a member of the Scott & White board for 27 years and chairman since 2000. Elizabeth McLane once served as a staff member. The amount of the donation was not disclosed.
The donation will allow Scott & White to complete the renovations to the McLane Children's Hospital, purchase equipment and build a 100,000-square-foot pediatric specialty clinic on the 40-acre campus, said Dr. Robert W. Pryor, president and CEO of Scott & White Healthcare, in a statement.
"The clinic is the next major development in expanding children's services," said Pryor.
